City urged to repair seawall in Throgs Neck damaged in Superstorm Sandy
Residents in Throgs Neck are concerned about a seawall damaged during Superstorm Sandy that has yet to be fixed.
The seawall is meant to limit damage from storms and high tides. But with the seawall being damaged, residents say they are concerned about the safety of their homes from future storms.
Some community activists have been trying to repair and fortify the wall since the storm. They say it is frustrating that they cannot get an answer as to when, how or if the city is going to repair the seawall.
Neighborhood leaders now have Councilman Jimmy Vacca helping them in their fight. He says fixing the seawall has to be one of the priorities when it comes to Sandy relief and repair.
News 12 reached out to the Department of Transportation for comment, but they have yet to respond.
