SUNY Maritime is offering a new tool to help students learn about operating a barge or tug boat.
The one-of-a-kind simulation system was donated by the Bouchard Transportation Company.
It features everything a mariner-in-training needs, without the water.
Student Gary Bigham took the new system for a spin, and says it feels no different than the boats he has been on in his internships.
"It definitely mimics what you could see," he says.
