News 12 interviews domestic violence expert

News 12 is working to spread the message that love shouldn't hurt.

News 12 conducted an interview Thursday with Maureen Curtis, the associate vice president of criminal justice programs at Safe Horizon. The group is just one of the many organizations in New York City dedicated to putting an end to domestic abuse.

The city also has a 24-hour domestic violence hotline. The number is 1-800-621-HOPE.

October marks Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
