School children name new NYC ferries
<p>School children in Brooklyn were given the task of naming new ferries slated to service New York City. The city reached out to second-graders across the five boroughs for ideas on what to name the new ferries, including two schools in Brooklyn—P.S. 170 in Bay Ridge and P.S. 971 in Sunset Park. The city reached out to second-graders across the five boroughs for ideas on what to name the new ferries, including two schools in Brooklyn - P.S. 170 in Bay Ridge and P.S. 971 in Sunset Park.
Mayor Bill de Blasio released a video on his official Facebook page to make the announcement. The names of the first five ferries will be:
-Friendship Express
-Sunset Crossing
-Urban Journey
-Waves of Wonder
-Lunchbox
Four ferry lines, including the south Brooklyn line, are expected to launch this summer. The remaining two lines will launch next summer.
