Army Corps project in Long Beach an 'inconvenience' for residents

As the Army Corps of Engineers begins its construction project to strengthen the Long Beach shore, some residents are calling it an inconvenience.
Residents say the fencing, construction vehicles and machinery will block access to the shoreline.
Some business owners on the boardwalk say they are worried that the construction during the peak summer season will drive away customers.
Long Beach officials say the construction is necessary to protect the barrier island from future storms. They say they have been working with the Army Corps to minimize the impact of construction.
Long Beach City Manager Jack Schnirman say there will be no work performed on the weekends during the summer. He also says workdays will be completed by early- to mid-afternoon.
