Bronx dancer promotes body positivity

A Bronx dancer has gained national attention by promoting body positivity on social media.

Jessie Diaz-Herrera says she started dancing ballet as a child and was advised to lose weight by a dance instructor.

"I just thought you have to be really skinny to be a ballerina," Diaz-Herrera said.

She says the remarks pushed her to diet and starve herself, and that eventually led her to stop dancing.

Diaz-Herrera found her love of dancing again in college through hip hop and learned how to love her body.

She says her body confidence was tested once again after having a baby.

Diaz-Herrera started blogging and became part of the growing body positive movement.

She says she is proud of her journey and plans to continue to help others find self-love.
