Ceremony held for new stadium courts at Cary Leeds Center

A dedication ceremony was held at the Cary Leeds Center in Crotona Park Sunday for the completion of two new stadium tennis courts.

The courts are located at 1720 Crotona Ave.

Organizers hope they will be able to attract kids and adults to learn how to play tennis and eventually compete.

The center now offers 22 courts, along with free lessons for every age.

U.S. tennis champion Billie Jean King, says she learned to play the game at public parks, and hopes kids use the center to be the best players they can be.

"If you're really good in the sport of tennis, then you will get a scholarship to college and you'll be able to finish college instead of thinking, 'Oh I got to go to work out of college,'" says King.
