CB 10 renews liquor license for Don Coqui amid noise complaints

Neighbors of Don Coqui bar and restaurant on City Island sounded off about noise complaints at a meeting to determine the future of the business's liquor license Tuesday evening.

At a contentious meeting before Community Board 10 voted on the issue, the City Island Civic Association cited 39 noise complaints filed against the establishment. Several neighbors argued that the noise is so loud that it wakes up children at night and showed video of loud people outside.

Ultimately, the board voted to renew the liquor license for Don Coqui, with stipulations.

The restaurant agreed to several stipulations, including installing a means of noise reduction and curtailing its outdoor hours.
