Authorities: Man fleeing police survives 4-story jump

A man fleeing police Monday in the Bronx survived jumping out of a four-story window, according to authorities.

Officers knocked at 156 East 184th St. to execute a search warrant for a suspect wanted for grand larceny.

Instead of succumbing to an arrest, the man -- who police have not yet officially identified -- jumped out the window, tumbling four stories and slamming into the ground.

Police say the suspect remained conscious and alert despite the plunge. He was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital to be treated for internal bleeding and broken bones.

Najha Williams identified the suspect as her son, 23-year-old Gregory Williams. She says she desperately tried to pull him inside as he dangled from the window.

The suspect is unable to speak, police say, but he is expected to survive.
