Vigil grows as police search for BX woman’s killer

A vigil grew outside a home Monday where a Bronx woman was killed in a hail of gunfire.

Margarita Franco, 26, was fatally shot Sunday in front of 761 E. 214th St. in Williamsbridge around 2:30 a.m., just a few blocks from where she lived.

EMS officials say they found Franco, who many in the neighborhood called "Marie," laying on the sidewalk in front of the building.

Police say they have footage of the killing. They say the video shows Franco being approached by a man, talking to him and being shot shortly after.

Franco was shot in the back of her head and pronounced dead at the scene. Officials say they are still searching for her killer.

News 12 is told officials plan to isolate the image of the suspect from the footage and release his photo to the public.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS
