Bronx woman celebrates 101st birthday

A Baychester church and its members celebrated the 101st birthday of a Bronx woman on Sunday.

Congregants from Burke Avenue Baptist Church say that Sarah Turner makes them smile, feel special and sets a good example.

They say rain or shine, she's at church every Sunday. Congregants say she's such a regular, she's got her own seat.

"She doesn't give up. Like if I ask her, 'You want me to walk you home,' she says 'What's wrong with you? It's 6 p.m. I don't need you to walk me home,'" says party organizer Mary Taylor.

Another woman News 12 spoke with says she remembers Turner getting her driver's license in the late 1960s, and admires her determination.
