Councilman: Cars parked illegally in front of Bronx ACS

Residents and local lawmakers are sounding off about illegally parked cars in front of a Bronx juvenile center.

Bronx Councilmember Rafael Salamanca says double-parked cars, and even cars parked up on the curb, outside the New York City Administration for Children's Services building on Brook Avenue in Melrose are causing a problem.

Salamancah says the ACS has ignored his calls to end the parking violations at the facility for at least a year. He says the employees who work at the facility are the ones illegally parking and causing traffic issues to spill out onto the road.

Salamancha is demanding the NYPD to come out and enforce parking standards in the area.

A spokesperson for the ACS told News 12, "We are aware of the parking situation in front of this ACS facility and appreciate the concerns raised by elected officials and community members. We are taking appropriate measures immediately, including reissuing internal parking guidelines, to direct our staff and visitors to follow the city parking regulations in front of the facility and the surrounding area."
