Women's History Month: Honoring Jennie Jerome

A park in the Bronx is named after a very influential woman.

Jennie Jerome Park is located on Jerome Avenue between East 174th Street and the Cross Bronx Expressway in Mount Eden.

The park is dedicated to Jennie Jerome, the mother of former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, who helped lead the Allied forces to victory in World War II.

It's known that Churchill admired his mother very much and looked to her as a political adviser.

Jerome was the daughter of a wealthy New Yorker and was a prominent member of New York and English high society.

One of her most popular quotes is "Treat your friends as you do your pictures, and place them in their best light."
