Police: Man shot dead after dispute in the Bronx; suspect in custody

A 46-year-old man was fatally shot in the chest after a dispute with another man in the Bronx Wednesday, and police say a suspect was taken into police custody.

The shooting happened in front of 3110 Bainbridge Ave. in Norwood just before 3 a.m.

Police say Michael Vermong and another man were arguing when the suspect pulled out a gun and shot Vermong once in the chest. He was transported to Montefiore Medical Center in critical condition, where police say he later died.

Neighbors say a broken glass bottle and headphones were found in the lobby of the residential building where the victim lived.

Police say the argument poured out onto the street, where Vermong was fatally shot.

Police took one man into custody and a gun was recovered at the scene.

A van near the building was also being investigated by police, but it is unclear if or how it is connected to the investigation.
