Cat stuck in sewer drain rescued by NYPD

A cat that had been stuck in a sewer drain for hours was successfully rescued in the Bronx Saturday afternoon.

The cat's cries drew plenty of attention near Prospect Avenue and Crotona Park North.

Police had to force open the grate, tempted the trapped cat with food and finally lifted it out.

An animal lover who alerted police about the stuck cat says she hopes someone will adopt him. The cat is believed to be a stray.
