Gov. Cuomo unveils $1.8B plan for Sheridan Expwy.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced a $1.8 billion investment for the Sheridan Expressway, touting it as the largest highway reconstruction project in the Bronx in decades.
The proposal would transform the Sheridan Interchange into a boulevard bordered by green space and bike trails and equipped with crossings for both.
It would also increase access to Starlight Park with a pedestrian bridge.
Additionally, new roads would lead to the Hunts Point Market, one of the largest food distribution hubs in the world, to help reduce truck traffic on local streets.
Funding for the project has already been set aside in the state budget, according to the governor. That budget is expected get final approval April 1.
