Muslim Immigrant Coalition spends snow day providing coats to homeless

Members of the Muslim Immigrant Coalition spent Tuesday afternoon hard at work handing out coats to those in need.

With several bags filled with coats, members of the Muslim Immigrant Coalition traveled throughout the Bronx to keep the borough's homeless warm.

Part of the day was spent on the corner of White Plains Road and Pelham Parkway, where News 12 met one of the group's directors, Aldo Perez.

"We're just coming out here to make sure that we all work together and build community by keeping everybody warm," said Perez.

Perez said that there is a tremendous need for coats in many areas of the Bronx. The group planned to move to other locations throughout the day to meet the needs of as many people as possible.
