Police: Man arrested after shooting inside Burger King

Police say a man is in custody after shooting another man Wednesday at a Burger King in the Bronx.

They say a 43-year-old male was grazed in the arm by a bullet fired from the gun of a 36-year-old man inside of the Burger King at 2036 Jerome Ave. around 2:06 p.m. Police say the victim refused medical attention.

A witness says the suspect got on a nearby bus after fleeing the Burger King. He says everyone on the bus got off after seeing the gun.

"Once I opened the door, all I heard was two gunshots," says witness Chris Rivera. "I'm thinking they're sticking up the place, so I hid. When I see the guy running away from the place, this other kid tried to hold him and he hit him with a stick."

Officials say the victim pursued the suspect as he attempted to carjack and flee in a Honda Odyssey that was occupied by an 18-year-old male and a 2-year-old.

They say he advanced one block before being apprehended by police.
