Program gives free swim lessons to hundreds of students
A program is providing free swim lessons to hundreds of second-grade students in the Bronx.
Called Waterproofing, the program is run by nonprofit Asphalt Green in partnership with schools throughout the city.
In the Bronx, more than 400 second-graders take the free class once a week all year long.
Asphalt Green says childhood drowning disproportionately impacts minority communities, and it is working to fight that statistic.
