Police: Rape suspect lured woman to motel with fake craigslist ad

A man is accused of raping a woman at a Bronx motel after she responded to a modeling ad on Craigslist , according to police.

The incident happened on Jan. 11 at the Paradise Motor Inn on Boston Road in Allerton around 3 p.m.

Police say the man used craigslist to lure the 21-year-old woman to the motel where he threatened and choked her before raping her.

The suspect was caught on surveillance video outside of the motel.

The Department for Consumer Affairs says modeling agencies must provide a licensing code with any solicitation advisement. However, they warn it is easy to fake.

Craigslist says if you are meeting someone through an ad for whatever reason, to do so in a public place like a bank or coffee house.

The website also suggests taking a friend with you or telling someone where you are going.

Anyone who recognizes the man is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
