A group is touting the big potential in one area of the borough, highlighting the prime space currently up for grabs.
The Women's Housing Economic Development Corporation (WHEDCO) is urging businesses to take a look at vacant retail space along Southern Boulevard.
WHEDCO has new numbers out that show increases in population and household income, but businesses along the boulevard just haven't caught up.
WHEDCO's study shows more than $240 million is spent by Bronx residents in other areas that could be spent along Southern Boulevard if vacant business space is filled.
There are several sites available just a few blocks apart, which could open up retailers to the more than 177,000 people WHEDCO says are potential customers.
