THE BRONX -

Police say they are investigating Wednesday after a man was fatally shot in the stomach in Williamsbridge.

They say the 28-year-old victim was shot one time in the stomach in front of Truth Lounge around 4 a.m. He was then transported by private means to Jacobi Medical Center and was later pronounced dead.

Police have kept Bronxwood Avenue between E. 221st and E. 222nd streets blocked off since they received 911 calls about the shooting. They say a 23-year-old male was taken into custody at the scene.

The owner of the bar Truth Lounge says they were closed during the time of the incident.

Neighbors say they heard up to six gun shots go off and a woman yelling.

Police have yet to release the name of the victim.
