Neighbors are leveling criticism at a proposed six-story high rise in Van Nest that could bring hundreds of new residents to the area.
The local community board hosted a town hall meeting on the issue Thursday a few blocks away from the proposed site.
Residents say it's the fifth such meeting, and the developer hasn't attended any of them.
According to the developer, the project will include a new parking garage to help alleviate traffic problems neighbors are anticipating. The planners have also decreased the size of the project from eight stories to six.
In all, the building would have 47 units -- a mix of three- and two-bedroom apartments ranging from $300,000 to $400,000.
The city Board of Standards and Appeals would have to approve the project before work could begin. That process takes about a year.
If the plan does gain approval, work is predicted to end in 2020.
