THE BRONX -

One of two men accused of assaulting a deli clerk with avocados in the Bronx appeared before a judge Monday.

Jestyfer Henriquez, 25, and Brad Gomez, 28, are both accused of breaking the jaw of a deli clerk at the Stadium Gourmet deli on May 29, police say. Henriquez appeared in court Monday.

The former college baseball players allegedly became upset after the deli employee got their food order wrong. Police say the duo then began to throw avocados and other fruit at the employee.

Both men are facing assault charges. Gomez could be facing a sentence of up to seven years if found guilty.

Henriquez has at least 11 prior arrests.
