A bicyclist was fatally struck by a garbage truck early Saturday morning in Greenpoint, police say.

Officials say the man was riding along Franklin Street just after midnight when the garbage truck heading the opposite way along the street hit the victim and fled the scene.

Police and EMS officials found the 27-year-old victim with severe body trauma. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No arrests have been made.
