Rain drenches New York City
Heavy rain poured over the city Monday, swamping much of Brooklyn and carrying along cooler weather that gave commuters a break from the recent heat.
The precipitation left low-lying areas flooded and had pedestrians hopping over puddles around the borough.
At the Georgetown Shopping Center, visitors were covered up in rain gear as they shopped for groceries. Many of them said that the rain made running errands easier -- there were more parking spaces and shorter lines in the stores.
"I love it when it rains when it's dinner time," says Jill Konner. "It's much, much less crowded. It's terrific."
Rainfall is expected to clear up overnight before temperatures climb into the 80s Tuesday, according to forecasters.
