Police say a man was fatally stabbed Friday night in Greenpoint.

The incident took place around 9 p.m. on Monitor Street.

According to 42-year-old George Carroll's wife, Christina, the couple was walking home around 9 p.m. from a nearby bar when a group of people sitting on a stoop yelled at them.

She says words were exchanged and moments later, one of the people chased her husband down the street, fatally stabbing him.

"They yelled at my husband, 'What are you looking at?' My husband was like, 'What are you looking at?' They got this into this whole 'what are you looking at business,' and everything happened so fast," says Christina Carroll.

No arrests have been made.
