An interfaith gathering was held Tuesday night in solidarity with the people of Charlottesville, Virginia.

Following the violent and deadly events two weekends ago in Charlottesville, Brooklyn residents came to the First Unitarian Church to call for peace and stand with people throughout the nation -- through prayer, song and sharing the traditions of their various faiths.

Many at the gathering said their purpose is to make sure that everyone, no matter who they are or where they're from, knows they are welcome in the community.

The gathering featured speakers representing six religions, who called on all people to come together and fight against hate.
