A Morris Park restaurant is serving up Colombian cuisine that the owner says is unlike any other spot in town.
La Masa owner Jorswar Montalvo says he was inspired by his Colombian grandmother's cooking when he decided to open up shop about three years ago with his wife, Laura.
Montalvo uses ingredients like cilantro, scallions, white onions and tomatoes to make his family's traditional meals with a twist.
La Masa offers classics like arepas, bandeja paisa and corn-dough empanadas, but they also have about 30 different variations on the menu.
"We have mac and cheese with bacon...very American," Montalvo says. "We also have our traditional beef and potatoes...very Colombian. Then we have something very, very unique to the neighborhood: sausage and peppers."
