Gas prices take big jump ahead of Labor Day travels

Labor Day travelers will have some good news and bad news to look forward to as they travel out of town for the weekend.
Gas prices have been on the rise lately, up to some of the highest levels they've been in years, thanks in part to Harvey.
The current average price for a gallon of gas is $2.74, up $0.14 from where it was just a week ago. At this time last year, the average price was $2.46 per gallon.
On the roads, alternate side parking rules are suspended this weekend, and meters will be suspended on Labor Day.
LIRR commuters can look forward to extra trains added to the schedule Friday, while subways will run on a Sunday schedule on Labor Day.
