The Bx6 Select bus service began Sunday, bringing an express option to the 24,000 residents who utilize the transit line along the borough's critical east-west corridor.
As part of the new service, riders pay their fares off board before boarding to help save time.
The route also makes fewer stops than the standard Bx6 line.
The bus service is a supplement to the standard Bx6 bus, which will continue operating as usual.
According to the city’s Economic Development Corporation, only 46 percent of residents own cars.
