Mott Haven residents want sinkhole patched

MOTT HAVEN -

A sinkhole on Alexander Avenue is an accident waiting to happen, according to some Mott Haven residents.

Neighbors say the hole opened up earlier this week -- and it keeps growing.

Rhaiza Padilla, who is nine months pregnant, told News 12 Tuesday that she almost fell in.

It's several feet deep near East 134th Street. Firefighters cordoned off the area for the time being, but residents want it fixed. They say it's in a busy area for pedestrians.
