Health data shows the Bronx has the largest number of residents with diabetes in the city, and a private company is choosing to open a relief center in the Hub to treat patients with the disease.
The Hub will be home to Diabetes Relief Centers of America's first East Coast location, where it hopes to provide over 800 treatments a month.
The center claims the treatments it provides is proven to help reduce some of the long term effects diabetes can have on the body.
Potential patients attending an informational meeting about the services were hopeful about the treatment.
Israel Morales, who has battled the disease for nearly a decade, says he is ready to give it a shot.  "I already signed up and I am willing to go at it."
The relief center is scheduled to open on World Diabetes Day, which is Nov. 14.
