Police say a man was fatally shot in the head and chest in Claremont.
The incident happened around 10 p.m. Friday night outside of 1330 Webster Ave.
Police have identified the victim as 24-year-old Jaquan Smalls. They say he lived just a half a mile away from the shooting.
Smalls was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police say they told the victim's family that they don't know what led to the shooting.
One resident of the neighborhood says the scene was chaotic, but also familiar.
"Hearing that there was another shooting was not really surprising ‘cause I moved here a year ago and it already happened three times," said Lawrence Quartey. "Somebody actually died right down the block where I live so it's like another day on Webster."
Police tell News 12 that they don't know yet if they are looking for one or multiple suspects. They say they don't have anyone in custody at this time.
