The state's Commission on Corrections is expected to approve new standards for the treatment of prisoners held in solitary confinement today.

The changes come at the urging of Gov. Andrew Cuomo and mandate that all prisoners held in solitary confinement get at least four hours of time outside their cell per day.

The rules also require local authorities to tell the state whenever a prisoner under 18 years old is placed in solitary.

The changes also come after the death of Kalief Browder.

The Bronx teen was wrongfully convicted of theft and held for three years at Rikers Island, mostly in solitary confinement.

Browder committed suicide after his release in 2015.
