A left-turn signal is coming to a Kingsbridge intersection to help improve traffic and pedestrian safety.
Thousands of pedestrians pass through the busy intersection of West 230th Street and Tibbett Avenue every day. Many of them are students heading to school at the John F. Kennedy campus.
Neighborhood residents have complained about the influx of traffic in the morning and during school dismissal.
State Assemblyman Jeff Dinowitz reached out to the city Department of Transportation about the need for a signal at the intersection, which has two crossing guards stationed during the week. A DOT spokesperson confirms the agency inspected the area during peak traffic flow hours and found that the signal installation is warranted.
The signal is expected to be installed sometime early next year.
