The city installed new all-way stop signs at Avenue P and Ryder Street in Marine Park this week.

Neighbors had been fighting for a way to slow down drivers for some time.

Assemblywoman Helen Weinstein says drivers notoriously used to speed along Avenue P, causing very serious accidents -- including one that fractured a 12-year-old's skull.

Drivers apparently were not all prepared for the new traffic pattern. As News 12 cameras observed the scene, at least one driver sped right through the new sign.

Weinstein says the Department of Transportation plans to install a new crosswalk as well.
