Cheddar Afternoon Business Update 11/9: Self-driving shuttle, Uber, Hidden Valley

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK -

Las Vegas debuted a new self-driving shuttle service on Wednesday, and one of the buses got into a minor crash with a delivery truck. City officials blame the truck driver and say the accident wouldn't have happened if the truck had the same sensors as the self-driving bus.

Uber is joining several other smaller tech firms to get its drivers signed up for the Affordable Care Act. The company says the campaign is not a political statement, but a move to improve its relationships with drivers. Uber currently considers those workers contractors, rather than employees, so it doesn't provide benefits like health insurance.

Hidden Valley is selling 5-liter kegs full of ranch dressing. By their estimation, it's a year's worth of the sauce. The keg is lined with a special FDA-approved coating to make sure the dressing doesn't go bad.
