Church basement left flooded after Bridgeport main break

A Bridgeport church basement remains flooded two days after a 16-inch water main burst near the intersection of Park and North avenues.
The pastor at the Full Gospel Church on Beechwood Avenue says the basement flooding is impacting the church's plan for holiday dinners and preparations in its fellowship room, which is also downstairs.
Pastor Theodore Plummer says the flood damage is extensive. It includes mud residue on the floor, peeling wall panels and soaked carpets.
The damage is also preventing the church from running holiday events, its Bible studies and other services in the basement.
"This is a place of history for us," Plummer says. "My whole life I've spent here. And other members have been here for generations, so it's not just a place we visit. This is home for us."
The church was scheduled to celebrate its 85th anniversary this weekend, but Plummer says he may have to cancel part of it that was supposed to take place in the basement.
