A Wall Township community farm opened its doors free of charge Saturday to families with children who have special needs.

The founders of Allaire Community Farm rescue hundreds of animals, and in turn those animals help provide therapeutic days on the farm.

The petting zoo and pony rides are all outdoors, but come next spring a large donation will change that. Former Wall Township Mayor Don Corson and his wife, Barb, will be donating an indoor petting zoo to the farm.

"We've had functions go on here where it's pouring rain, and that won't happen," Corson says. "It's not going to be done overnight but I'm ready to go. I have the plans in my head how to do it, and I've built many, many farm buildings and commercial buildings."

The farm is open seven days a week, and visitors are asked to donate $3 for entry.

Proceeds go toward caring for the animals. 

The Allaire Community Farm is run by volunteers and is also fundraising and looking for sponsors to build an indoor riding ring.
