A New Jersey-based company is commemorating Finland’s 100th anniversary with one-of-a-kind wine and beer glasses that are made entirely of cheese.
Finlandia, which is based in Parsippany, is making the limited-edition, hand-crafted and fully edible “commemorative cheeseware” available for purchase only on Wednesday, the day Finland officially celebrates its centennial. The price for the “cheeseware” is $5,000.
“To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Finland, we wanted to create something symbolic that is a gesture to the dozens of Finnish family-owned farms who have dedicated over 110 years of passion and dedication to making some of the world’s very best cheeses,” said Marcie Foster, director of marketing and brand development for Finlandia, in a news release.
Made in partnership with top food sculptors Jim Victor and Marie Pelton, the “cheeseware” is decorated with an edible Finnish flag and made from with nothing artificial and no added hormones, according to the news release.
The beer mug is a 16-ounce pint glass made from Finlandia imported gruyere, and the wine glass is an 8-ounce stemless glass sculpted from Finlandia imported gouda.
The “cheeseware” is available for purchase through Finlandia’s Facebook page. Orders must be placed by sending a direct message to the company's Facebook page by 11:59 p.m. Wednesday.
