New York City officials gathered at City Hall Thursday morning to discuss the upcoming L train tunnel shutdown, stressing the need for another plan for commuters who rely on the line.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority and city Department of Transportation recently announced mitigation plans for the shutdown, which is set to begin in April 2019.

Those plans include alternatives like increased service on other subway lines. The G, J, M and Z lines would pick up some slack, along with having more buses on the road.

New bike lanes are expected. The city plans to work with Citi Bike to get more wheels on the road.

Officials also discussed a new ferry that would connect North Williamsburg to Manhattan's East Side.
