Cheddar Weekend Business Update 12/31: Tech stocks, ‘dogluencer’

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK -

2017 was a good year for the markets.

For those with a 401K, they are likely ending the year in a better place than they started.

The Dow, Nasdaq and S&P all finished up by about 20 percent in 2017.

Tech stocks also did particularly well. Apple, Amazon, Facebook and Netflix were all up by about 50 percent since January.

Also in 2017 the world met Clyde the Bully and his owner Melissa Molomo from Blue Point in Suffolk County.

They have nearly 50,000 followers on Instagram.

Molomo says if you want to turn your pooch into a so-called "dogluencer" you have to take interesting pictures and keep them authentic.

It also helps to have a dog that loves the spotlight.

“With Clyde he's easy to work with. He knows it’s go time, I even have a light so he understands what's going to happen. He's very treat- and toy-driven,” says Molomo.

Molomo and Clyde have their own line of doggie jewelry called Bullies and Co.
