Tenant rally in East New York demands NYCHA fix boilers

Tenants living in New York City Housing Authority developments rallied Tuesday in East New York to demand that the agency fix broken boilers inside their homes.
Tenants from the Vandalia Houses, Pink Houses and other NYCHA developments stood side by side to say they have been dealing with no or partial heat inside their apartments for several days at a time.
Inside the Vandalia Senior Center, residents have been using a space heater in the dining room for about two weeks to keep warm.
NYCHA tells News 12 that it is aware of the heating issues at the senior center and is working to restore heat as quickly as possible. As for the other buildings, NYCHA says it is working around the clock responding to heat outages.
On Monday, News 12 reported on an East New York woman who said she was dealing with a lack of heat inside her Long Island Baptist Houses apartment.
And over the weekend, New York City Comptroller Scott Stringer announced an audit of NYCHA over heating complaints from tenants.
