WESTAMPTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) -- State police say a hit-and-run crash involving a tractor-trailer on an interstate highway in New Jersey has left a man dead.
The accident in the northbound lanes of Interstate 295 in Westampton Township was reported shortly after 5 a.m. Sunday.
Troopers responding to the scene found 60-year-old John Farino dead in the minivan he was driving. They say the Cinnaminson man's vehicle was rear-ended by the tractor-trailer, which then fled the scene.
The impact forced the minivan off the road. It then hit a tree and overturned.
The tractor-trailer is believed to be an older model Peterbilt, which has an elongated front. Authorities say the vehicle likely has significant front-end damage.
