Residents of a Snediker Avenue apartment say their tap water is so dirty that they haven't been able to brush their teeth or cook with it for years.
"My kids are looking at me wondering, 'Why, daddy, can't I take a long shower? Daddy, why can't I drink the water from the sink?'" says Ennis K. Hightower. "I refuse to even cook here because of the condition of the water."
Hightower says he's been dealing with unusable water for two years.
"I'm suffering from rashes," he says. "I have blotches all over my body."
But his complaints have not resulted in a fix. He contacted building management, he says, and they sent him a water cooler.
News 12 cameras found water running noticeably cloudy but clearer than the mud-like liquid Hightower describes, but he says that's because he's been running it regularly.
"If I step away for two days, I can guarantee that the water will be opaque," he says.
Help USA, the nonprofit organization that runs the building, says it has maintenance teams working to figure out the problem.
