The family of the Bridgeport man who was brain dead after being shot in the head has confirmed he has died.

The shooting happened Tuesday around 5:30 p.m. on Palisade Avenue in the city's Mill Hill section.

Eric Heard was 19 years old.

According to police, their investigation now shows Heard never drew the gun he was carrying and did not exchange gunfire with his attacker as they originally told News 12.

Investigators say Heard was walking from his family's house on Price Street to buy food when he was ambushed by a male acquaintance.

Police initially reported Heard died after being shot, but his family said he remained on life support at Bridgeport Hospital

No arrests have been made.
