Police say they are investigating after a 16-year-old teen was seriously injured Wednesday night while trying to cross the street in Dix Hills.
They say Abrar Shah Rahman, of Dix Hills, was hit by a 2007 Ford Sedan on Wolf Hill Road and Caledonia Road just before 10 p.m.
Officials say the 23-year-old driver, Caitlyn Kennedy, remained at the scene and was not injured.
Images obtained by News 12 show a grey car with a smashed windshield and a large dent on the passenger side.
Rahman was airlifted by Suffolk County Police Aviation Unit and transported to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he remains in serious condition.
It is unclear if charges will be filed.
