A cold winter has been made even more brutal for tenants living in NYCHA apartments with broken boilers.

Tenants say they can feel the cold temperatures inside of their apartments and that funding for boilers and repairs are needed right away.

Multiple presidents of various tenant associations around the city joined elected officials at City Hall asking the governor to declare a state of emergency and intervene with the New York City Housing Authority heat and hot water crisis.

The mayor’s office says it is the state that needs to come in and add funds for the boilers, roofs and repairs.

Officials say the city has plans to invest more than $3 billion in NYCHA.
