Southold man accused of attempted rape pleads guilty to lesser charges

A Southold man accused of threatening to rape and kill a woman pleaded guilty to lesser charges.
Police say Jose Amadeo Perez grabbed a 27-year-old woman and tried to drag her into the woods off Main Road in Greenport in 2016.
He's accused of threatening her with cutting shears and telling her he was going to rape and kill her.
The victim escaped.
Amadeo Perez pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of attempted kidnapping.
Perez is facing up to 15 years behind bars when he's sentenced next month.
